The Why and Benefit of Social Media

To make up for only one post last week, I have not one but TWO short videos for you this week!

I was honored to be the guest speaker at the Professional Women of Statesboro’s June meeting last week and I talked about “Social Media & Your Business”.

I did these 2 short videos before heading out, simply to put out there one, why you need to be on social media, and two, the benefits.

Some great advice here and I totally agree that it is about interacting and engaging. It’s important to show a genuine interest in who you are connecting with no matter where in the world they are!

    • memarketingservices

      Yes! Thanks Carolyn!

  • Lisa Frederiksen –

Love the videos Mandy! Great to hear you :) It is really amazing that it is so simple, but yet so difficult to find success through social media. The concept of building relationships is not new, but for social media marketing, so many forget about it. Thanks for sharing.

    • memarketingservices

      Thanks Gretchen!!

  • Martha Giffen

Question, Mandy: when you mentioned $136 as the potential value of each Facebook friend in the first video, is that LTV (lifetime value)? Loved hearing all the statistics!

    • memarketingservices

To be honest, the article I read that stat in did not specify…

  • Jamie

Wow, 136 dollars value for a facebook friend? I never put it in perspective like that before.

    • memarketingservices

      I hadn’t either!

  • Meryl Beck

If I start to waiver about my commitment to social media, I can just return to your videos for a boost!

    • memarketingservices

Great videos and advice. I think we really need to keep it simple and just give first and then we have earned the right to ask. Its quite easy really. Too many try to complicate social media for sure!

    • memarketingservices

      Thanks Anita! I agree completely!

  • Lorii Abela

Great videos Mandy, you would think that all business owners know the importance of social media by now but shockingly enough many don’t and this is a speech that I find myself continuously giving.

    • memarketingservices

Thanks Karla! I feel I give that speech every week!

  • Becky Fisher

This is too funny — just as I clicked a link to purchase something from a Facebook Page you said, “Chances are you’ve bought something from a FB page”

    • memarketingservices

That is hilarious!!! Something like that would happen to me too!

  • denny hagel

      Thanks Sherie!

  • Christer Edman

It’s So great Mandy! You Own what you are talking about and it feels you are talking from your heart and brain without hesitation. That is Powerful :D

  • Carla J Gardiner

Wow, love all of the statistics Mandy as I am not a statistical gatherer. The point is definitely driven home why everyone’s business needs be have a presence on social media.

  • Helena Ritchie

Nice videos Mandy! Loved all the stats in the first one. You certainly gave me something to think about with those.

  • Sally K Witt

I love using statistics. They are so clear and really help.

  • Suzanne Jones

I am surprised at the stats but will say most of my traffic comes from FB alone. Someone from my networking group in my city said she isn’t online because there is too much competition. I tried to explain the ‘why’ it would benefit her, but to no avail. I suspect she needs these stats…

  • Heather

I love the $136 figure— those facebook friends to whom I have reached out and put on my teams or in my customer base are probably averaging me that much each if I sit down and figure it out. But the friendship, even without the biz component? Priceless! :)

  • Lisa Birnesser

I love the videos, Mandy-Great job! It is about networking and connection, whether it’s online or brick and mortar business. Building relationships are so important! It’s amazing the number of friends that I’ve made through social media in just the last year.

  • Dr. Sarah David

What wonderful videos Mandy! Great job teaching the benefits. Looking forward to more!

  • Edmund Lee

  • Kara Calannio

Thanks for all the great advice! Kara

  • Jennifer

Great videos, Mandy (love seeing you on video). Really good content here. It amazes me that people still need to be convinced that their business should be on social media, but I definitely find that they do. Both of your videos are great validation for your services ~ hope you’re using them as sales video!

  • Theresa Cifali

Way to go with the vids, Mandy. You make excellent points, as always. Thank you for being so generous with your advice.

  • Mark Naseck

Great videos! My friend Meryl Beck led me to your site. Thanks for the info – very valuable.
